While strength is important in the discus, in order to produce champion throwers you must be able to teach proper technique. That process begins with the grip and stand throws.

In the video below Carrie Lane, former throws coach at University of Nebraska and current throws coach at University of Wyoming, provides the key coaching points and cues that will help your throwers learn the correct grip and execute a fundamentally sound stand throw.
